Menus

Where menus are created, and all the places Homage can display them.

Last updated About 7 hours ago

Menus themselves are created and managed in your Shopify admin under Online Store > Navigation — adding links, nesting them into dropdowns, reordering. If you're new to that, Shopify's guide covers it: Menus and links.

This article covers the theme side: once a menu exists, where can you use it?

The Navigation section's Menu setting is your primary menu — it appears in the header on desktop and in the drawer menu on mobile. Nested items become dropdowns, and up to three levels are supported. See Navigation for layout and style options, and Mega menu for turning a dropdown into a full-width panel with banners.

Drawer menus

The slide-out drawer (the ☰ icon) can carry two menus of its own:

  • Desktop drawer menu — a separate menu for the optional desktop drawer, if you want different links there than in the bar.
  • Footer menu — a small secondary menu pinned to the bottom of the drawer. Good for policies, contact, and FAQs.

Both are set in the Navigation section under Menu.

Announcement bar

The Announcement bar can show a small menu alongside your announcements — enable Show menu in its Content settings. Handy for "Help" or "Track order" type links. See Announcement bar.

The Footer navigation section displays menus through its Footer menu blocks — add one block per column of links. See Footer navigation.

Other places

  • Customer account menu — shown to logged-in customers, set in the Navigation section's Account settings.
  • Search suggestions — a menu of suggested links shown in the search overlay before visitors type. Set in the Predictive search section.
  • Subcollection menu — powers subcollection navigation in the Collection banner section.

💡 Tip: Reusing one menu in several places keeps things consistent — but each spot above accepts any menu, so you're free to build purpose-specific ones (a compact footer menu, a promo-heavy main menu) without them affecting each other.
