Storefront filtering
Let customers narrow collection and search results by price, availability, and product options.

Filtering is powered by Shopify's Search & Discovery app — the theme provides the filter bar, slide-out panel, and sort controls, but you choose which filters exist in the app.
One-time setup in Search & Discovery
- In Shopify admin, open Apps > Search & Discovery (install it free if needed).
- Go to Filters and add the filters you want — availability, price, color, size, metafields, etc.
- Group and order them how customers should see them.
Without this step, enabling filters in the theme won't show anything useful.
Turn on filters for collections
- Open a collection template in the theme editor.
- Select the Collection section.
- Under Filter settings, turn on Enable filters.
- Set Filter position — panel slides in from the Left or Right.
A Filters button appears above the product grid (with a badge when filters are active). Clicking it opens the filter drawer. Show results at the bottom applies selections and closes the panel; Clear all resets them.
Turn on Enable sorting for the sort dropdown (price, alphabetical, etc.). Enable grid size interface lets shoppers switch between 3- and 4-column desktop grids.
Filters only work when the collection has fewer than 5,000 products and filters are configured in Search & Discovery.

Same idea on the Search results template — Enable filters and Filter position in the Search results section. See Search results.
Other settings
Global filter defaults live in Filter settings under shared settings. Collection-specific card and grid options are in Collection.
