How can I prevent the gallery from changing with variant selection?

Keep the product gallery on the same images when customers pick a size, color, or other option.

By default, the product gallery reacts when someone selects a variant. You can change that behavior in the Product information section settings.

  1. Open your product template in the theme editor.
  2. Select Product information.
  3. Find Gallery variant image style and choose None.

The gallery stays on whatever images are showing, no matter which variant is selected. Customers still pick variants through the Variant selector block — only the gallery behavior changes.

  • Default — when a variant has an assigned image, the gallery jumps to show it. This is the standard Shopify experience.
  • Variant only — hides all images except those tied to the selected variant. Useful when each color has its own photos and you don't want the others visible.
