The basics

Installing a theme is a key step to launch your online store with a unique and professional look. You can add a theme in several ways, and each method is designed for different needs. Our themes use the most advanced and up-to-date features, so your store will always look its best.

📝 Note: When you purchase a paid theme, it is licensed only for the store where it was originally activated. Unlicensed themes will not receive support or updates when new features are released.

You can keep multiple themes in your account for different purposes. This flexibility allows you to experiment safely and prepare for special events or design changes without affecting your live store.

  1. Try new themes safely before making them live.

  2. Save seasonal or alternate versions of your store design.

  3. Test design changes on a copy of your published theme.

    1. You can preview any theme before publishing, but only one theme can be live at a time.

    2. When you switch to a new theme, your previous theme remains in your Themes library for future use.

Theme limits depend on your store plan. Most stores can add up to 20 themes.

  1. For accounts on Plus plans or higher limits, check your plan’s documentation for details.

  2. If you hit your theme limit, simply remove an old theme before adding a new one.

After installing a theme, you can generate a shareable preview link. This is helpful for collecting feedback from your team or stakeholders before publishing your new store design.

Try before you buy

Before committing to a paid theme, you can fully preview it in your admin. This allows you to explore different styles and features before making a decision.

  1. Preview a paid theme and use the theme editor to apply your brand colors, styles, and products.

  2. All changes made during your trial will be saved if you decide to buy the theme.

  3. You can preview up to 19 paid themes at the same time, making it easy to compare options before choosing the best fit.

  4. Paid themes in trial mode display a Theme trial label for easy identification.

📝 Note: Testing different themes is a great way to discover which layouts and features work best for your business.

Buy a theme from the Theme Store

Purchasing a theme is easy and unlocks advanced customization, powerful features, and dedicated support. With our modern themes, your store is always up to date.

⚠️ Important: Only staff members with permissions for Themes, Manage and install apps and channels, and Approve app charges can buy themes. Make sure you have the right access if you do not see the purchase option.

Once you try and customize a paid theme, follow these steps to purchase it:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps and sales channels in your admin.

  2. Select Online store from your sales channels.

  3. Click Open sales channel.

  4. Go to Themes.

  5. Click Add themes > Visit Theme Store.

  6. Find the theme you want and click Try theme.

  7. In your Theme library, click Buy on your selected theme to begin the purchase.

📝 Note:Paid themes are often developed by trusted third-party creators. General support and updates are provided by the theme developer. If you need advanced design changes but are unfamiliar with web development, consider hiring a professional.

🚧 Caution: Theme purchases are final sale. Refunds are not available for third-party themes.
